2017: A Look Ahead

Blog Post - January 3, 2017

Category: What's New

On January 3rd CVA held its first Village Voices meeting so that merchants and residents could join together to discuss programming in the Village.  Which events have worked, which need improvement, and what types of events need to be added to the roster to make the Village even better was the topic of discussion.  The goal is to have the 2017 calendar on the CVA website following its first Board Meeting January 9th.

What CVA events are on tap so far?  Our outdoor movie series, Flicks at the Fountain, returns every Thursday night from July 6th through August 24th with eight fantastic movies.  The 19th Annual Art in the Village, one-day juried art show returns on Sunday, August 13th. And, of course, our certified organic Farmers' Market runs every Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm until March 15th, at which time it changes to 3pm to 7pm through November 1st.

New events planned include a Spring "Sip & Shop" merchant hospitality night in March, holiday-themed movies at the historic Carlsbad Village Theatre in April, October, and December, and a Crafter's Showcase "craft and makers faire" is scheduled for Sunday, September 10th.

We are looking forward to the return of the Barrio Spring Clean-Up and Fall Fix-Up in collaboration with the City of Carlsbad and the Olde Carlsbad Village Association as well as the Holiday Window Decorating Contest, the Village Night of Lights, and Pets on Parade.  Friday Night Live "busker style music" is planned to commence in April and run through September.

These are just some of the events planned for the Village.  Please stay tuned and visit the CVA website often at www.carlsbad-village.com for a full calendar of all village events.
